A place that will let me be slightly less bored at work.
A place that will let you see what I'm thinking about.
A place that will let me be lazy, and do no real development.
A place for you.
A place for me.

Congratulations Myles, welcome back to the community of bloggers. I'm glad I can visit your site once more and see what's going on. And thank you Sean for adding me to your friends, once I'm back from TX I'll reciprocate.

So Texas has been fun so far... although I'm not looking forward to either of my midterms next week, or for that matter getting this program done by Sunday night (that I haven't started). What's more? I'm leaving for Mexico to help with a project one week after I get back from here. So that will interesting as well... Yup. Lots going on right now.

Yeeeeeeehaw! I'm in Texas!! Actually, I like it here a lot. San Antonio is really nice. I was really surprised... I'll write more later. I have a crap-load of homework and not much time... *sigh*

Well, it wasn't so bad last night going back. I met Tim on my way out the door, so we went to dinner. Food was what I really needed, and the upgrade to the server went smoothly (thank God!). I happened to have the exact same model NIC as the other two in the computer, so I didn't even need to search for a driver. I'm sure you all care =P

Well I leave for Texas on Sunday... according to Dan we're going to "Go pee on the Alamo and root for the Mexicans". I wish I could explain to you how ironic that statement is, but in any case you'll be able to appreciate how it sets the tone for the trip. It should be interesting indeed. What's cool is we get $40 a day for all meals... that's a lot of money! I could eat for like $2.50 a day, and if I ate well I would spend like $15. I guess we'll probably be going to sit-down dinners, so it'll be a bit more... but still! Evidently we're at some point going to a place called "You are Cooks" or "UR Cooks" or some such variation. It's an all you can eat, cook it yourself steak place. The concept intrigues me... I'm pretty excited... but I have midterm city as soon as I get back. I have a speech as soon as I get back, and midterms in my other two classes. Ick! Oh well...

Blargh.. this (new) project is killing me. I went to work at 7am... I got back home at 8pm.. and I'm going back after I get something to eat for at least another hour. I don't wanna!! I'll want even less to do my HW. I want this project to be done!!!

Oh, I also changed my redirection. Someone, at some point was complaining that once you go to my site, any links you follow always show "omphaloskepsis.org" in the address bar. It won't do that any more.

Speaking of: who as some ideas of content for cocksnsocks.com?
And then there was life.
Life is something that happens. It's not something you can plan, or predict, or anticipate. The moment you do these things is the moment you get let down. I'm not advocating pacifism here, I'm not saying stay in your room and do nothing... I'm just saying don't be surprised when things don't work out your way, and by the same token don't think you're special because things did work out your way. Simmer down, take a deep breath and stop and smell the roses. Don't be so infatuated with your own machinations that you can't help your friends, or so intent on what is good for your future that you lose your present.

Yeah, this blog entry is pretty anti. Just my thoughts on the walk back from school.

Woo, GarageBand is so awesome. Brion and I wrote (arranged? We did use a few stock loops) two songs today, and just for fun I'll post my techno song. Eventually, when I get less lazy I'll put up a real music page. For now though:

My Techno Awesome - By Lyle
(The only part I actually "composed" is the opening section)

Dreamin About You - By Lyle & Brion
(Sax and Organ by Lyle, Bass, and Horns by Brion)

OH YEAH! - By Lyle & Brion
(lead vocals by Lyle, drums and back-ups by Brion)

Enjoy!
Ahhhh... today was perfect. Since I've got the three-day weekend action going on, the town is how I like it: quiet. Furthermore, my homework load is light... which means I got to just relax today. I composed a few little songs in GarageBand (which came in last night). As soon as I get off my lazy butt, I'll make a page where you all can download them (little masterpieces they be). I also was physically active today, in the form of a brief hike up Black Hill in Morro Bay. After a breakfast of chocolate chip pancakes and country style bacon, Shane and I went out there to see what we could see. It was nice to get out of the house on a Saturday and see a little bit of the lay of the land. Maybe someday soon I'll hike up Bishop's Peak. After that I came back and did some laundry (which I was in excessive need of doing) and played some more with GarageBand. I ended the day with a Smile and Nod show (which was funny, but not near to the calibre of last weeks show) and a movie with my new buddy Teri. Let me express now how much I enjoy the movie Amélie, it is a quality piece of cinema that everyone needs to see. Being around Teri is a huge shift in thinking for me. I guess I'm just out of the loop now, or maybe I'm getting old. She moves at a million miles an hour, where I seem to barely to be able to muster 16. I would imagine hanging around with me is a different experience for her as well. I mean, I am a senior in college... so I'm like, theoretically, more mature (those that know me, know otherwise). It is funny though, we sharing a home town brings a feeling of kinship. It's sometimes nice to know that someone else has been on those streets, and tread your paths.

In other news: I'm starving. Remember that pancake breakfast I spoke about? It's been my only meal today... I need a snack >_<

Busy, busy, busy. That's how Wednesday, and to a lesser extent Thursday, were. Wednesday I got up at early o'clock to finish up my 453 programs and then off to class. I have class all day on Wednesday with only a few short breaks, those were taken up by running around trying to buy a book I needed for lab. I got home at 9... 13 hours after I left the house... and then promptly left again 30 minutes later for another 3 hours. (Had to go to Madonna Inn and work). Ick... I was exhausted after Wednesday. Thursday was lots of running around and being late to things. It all worked out in the end, but I am VERY glad that it is Friday today. After a few classes, I'll be home free for the weekend. I have very little homework... so this weekend might actually be relaxing.

Ay... what a day. Everything broke. I'd like to say for the record, Global Crossings sucks! Well, not all the time. Usually they are very good... but today all of our DS3s and 2 of our T1s through them went down. What does that make me? STRESSED! I only got about half of what I wanted to get done today done... and it doesn't help that I'm leaving for Texas in like a week and a half. Sorry, today was just long. I got to work at 7am in hopes that I could leave early for choir. I didn't end up leaving work until 6, and then I got called like 30 minutes later because something else broke >_< On the up-side we interviewed a replacement for my partner (ironically a friend of his). It went fairly well, and with any luck I'll have some help soon.

What a very eventful weekend this was. I finally met my secret online buddy, which was a very random... but fortuitous event. By chance she was at the Smile and Nod audition I went to on Saturday. (No, I didn't get in... but they didn't take anyone this quarter) It was nice to finally meet her. It's funny, I had only ever seen her in a picture. It's strange to see a picture before you meet a person, and then to see that picture animated and moving... in 3d. It was almost disorienting. Nonetheless I'm very happy to have met her, and I hope we'll not make it a one or two time occurance.

I went to Santa Ynez today to celebrate Christmas with the aunt and uncle, that was fun. Nothing super to report there, although I did walk away from the deal with a nice tool set, which is very appreciated. I never can seem to find tools here when I need them. I also picked up a CD I've been searching for a week or so. Brazilian Jazz is the best. I just love the combination of the soft sound of a woman's voice singing in soft sounding Portugese to jazz. The album, by the way, is called Casa. The artists are Morelenbaum^2 (husband and wife combo) and Sakamoto. It is awesome.

I also went ahead and orderd i-Life '04 and a USB music keyboard. I'm really excited. I've wanted a keyboard for a long time, and while this one probably isn't the best keyboard in the world, it'll be a lot of fun to play with. Not to mention GarageBand, which is some sweet software that will finally let me record and mix some more songs. Not to mention it comes stock with more than 1,000 loops. That means I might even be able to have drums in my songs ^_^

Anyway, I'm pretty tired now... so to bed.

It's Friday. One week of classes down... several more to go. I have 2 programs due on Monday as well as a speech to give. Beyond that homework has been light... scary. I have no doubts it won't last long. This week has been exhausting with Dan out of the office. I've been called 3 times, and actually had to leave ballroom last night to go in and fix our file server. It ended up being fairly easy to fix, and I prevented a future problem with our e-mail server as well... so it turned out fine... it's just annoying... In any case, he's back now... so maybe... just maybe I won't have to get called so much.

Where have all the bloggers gone? It seems like Tim and myself are the only ones that ever update any more. C'mon people! Satisfy the voyeur in me, tell me your thoughts, dreams, aspirations... in short: blog!

Blahrgh... I'm exhausted. Work was tough today. I'm in a weird situation taking over this project at work... I mean I, at 22 years old, not graduated from college yet, am project managing a very high-profile project at my company. I'll do the best I can, but I'll be relying a lot on the skills of the people I'm managing. I'm anxious about it, I've studied all the materials left by my predecessor. I don't know. I think I'll do fine, it's just sort of nerve-racking when compounded with my other duties at work.

In other news, I beat Prince of Persia last night. It was a pretty good game, but I don't think I loved it as much as the reviewers. It was good, don't get me wrong. I just don't think it was the masterpiece that they said it was. It was just a good game.

School is fine so far, my big one day of clases. I think this quarter will be very intersting, and most assuredly a balancing act between study, work and extra-curricular activities.

This weekend (minus a few choice moments) rocked! The cabin was sweet, the company good, and the powder fresh. (I should know... I was sitting on my ass in it 50% of the time) The weather was idyllic, and everything was cheap. Weekend of skiing in Shaver Lake: $100. Beat that MasterCard! In any case I had a ton of fun. I'll write later today about my trick for getting to sleep, and how class went today. Speaking of which, I better figure out which classes that I have, and where and when they are today.

It's funny how when you think no one cares, and you're basically tired of everything events happen that pose a dramatic shift in paradigm. My Dad came and visited me today, first I'd seen him in a year plus. It was awesome to spend time with him, and I hope he'll come around a bit more often. We talked a lot, about relationships and just about life in general. It was exactly the sort of talk I needed to have with someone, but at the same time the sort of talk I'm incable of producing between friends and acquantinces. I guess sometimes you just need your dad.
*sigh*

Have you ever just stopped caring?

Oh, happy new year.
