It seems to me that women in engineering fields slowly adopt the mannerisms of the men that surround them. I mean, I doubt many women will be grabbing their crotch and farting any time too soon. Yet smaller things such as acknowledgment of presence and greetings seem likely cantidates. For example, one of the women who has been here as long as I have just acknowledged that I was present in the room by giving the curt nod that so many engineers adopt. Few other women I know offer acknowledgement in this way, most wave or at least smile. Just the thought of the day.
